For our first proper trip we decided to stay close to home and so we booked two nights at Lea valley (Dobbs weir). We left on Friday 4th January 2019 at 18:30 and were there just before 19:00. We paid £56 including £10.50 late arrival fee for arriving after 5pm. Bloody cheek! We were shown to pitch number 2 by a nice bloke on a push bike. The facilities were good but there was a children's play area which didn't bode well for the summer. We wanted to try to 'survive' without hooking up to the electric supplied at the site. We ran the Swift on bottled gas and the leisure battery (we only had the one 105Ah battery at this time.) for 2 nights and we had the use of the heating, hot water for shower and washing up and TV on 12 volts and the fridge on gas and all worked well. We had a great dinner in the Swift cooked on the gas hob and full English on Saturday morning before walking along the river the 'The Rye House' pub for a couple of Ales. Brilliant. When we got back we opened the bottle of Jameson's Irish whiskey to finish off a lovely day. This site had all the usual facilities including clean water, black and grey waste, electric hook up, showers and lots of very messy geese (crap everywhere).
