Maudlands farm CL

1st December

We must have used too much leisure battery watching all that TV last night! as we had to start the engine to charge it for a while so that we could have the heating on. Later we had a walk down to and along the beach and then back for breakfast.

We have decided to try to find a campsite with EHU for tonight and somewhere to explore on the bikes cos they’ve been in the trailer for a few days now, since we left Pwll Preban on Anglesey, so we set off, with Sue in the driving seat today to give Andy’s dodgy ankle a rest, (long story) and headed for Maudlands farm CL site which was inland from New Quay just past a little village called Newcastle Emlyn. ///farms.eggs.sidelined

We drove straight past the turn as the Garmin told us it was on the right and it was on the left so we turned around and drove in and parked on pitch #2.

We soon discovered that although the pitch had water and EHU our hose would not reach so we had to turn the van around! The grey waste ‘hole’ was also too far away for our pipes to reach but Paul, the farmer got us a piece of down pipe to bridge the gap! We then got all the devices out and started charging them and got the leisure battery on charge too, then coffee and Welsh cakes. We had a  nice evening in watching Japan v Spain and a film on Netflix then bed.

2nd Dec

A quick coffee and soggy dog walk around the farm and then out on the bikes to the village of Newcastle Emlyn. It was about 5 miles mostly downhill and we weren’t looking forward to the return journey. We window shopped for a bit and bought some essentials from the local store. There was a proper butcher, so we bought some mince and ribs and then went across the road for some chips, Andy had sausages and curry sauce on his, of course! ///insect.chop.whimpered

Heading back up the hills to the farm we were dreading it but the e-bikes handled the journey with no problems, well impressed. When we got back to the van Andy decided to repair the hole in the exhaust and that kept him busy for and hour whilst Sue got on with making her famous butternut squash soup. Andy came in and washed up before getting on with the web site updates.

We sat and listened to Fleetwood Mac for a while as we had just heard the sad news that Christine McVie had died and we are both fans of the band.  😒

We stayed for two nights at Maudlands farm. There is a beach which we wanted to explore just a few miles away so we packed up, paid up and set off north west for Mwnt beach.
