2nd Sept

After visiting Morrisons in Wells to get the washing done we headed to The Highway man Inn pub stop ///reclusive.deputy.started which is very close to the Bath and West showground where the Warners show will be held.

We pulled into the large car park and Andy popped in to pay the £10 for the night and then we had lunch and chilled for the rest of the day.

3rd Sept

We decided to stay here for a 2nd night and then go straight to the showgroung tomorrow morning. To kill time we went for a walk into Shepton Mallet but everything seemed to be closed or closing. We did manage to find a coffee shop in the square where we sat and relaxed for a while, Andy found a book on the shelves all about life in the 1940's and spent half an hour thumbing through the very interesting photos.

We walked around a charity shop which had so much stock and and bought a brand new mesh fire pit to replace our worn out one for £4. (£15 on Amazon).

We popped into Tesco for some booze and then checked the buses back to the van but decided to walk back after all.

We got back to the van just before the rain started and found two more vans in the car park so we had neighbours!

Back at the van and Andy went into the pub to pay the £10 for the 2nd night, then we watched the beautiful sunset.

4th Sept

Up and off to the showground where we were guided to the Van club area and parked just behind 'Watts occuring' Youtubers.

We soon got set up and got talking to Malcolm who had parked next to us. Malcolm was a solo vanner and travels all over Europe and spends the colder months in Spain and has a property in France.

We went to the bar as the stalls were not open until tomorrow and had a beer and a cider and then sat outside the van with Malcolm watching people arrive.

Andy bought a bottle of propane for a reasonable £48 and fitted it so we were ready for our trip to France in a couple of weeks.

Tonight the entertainment included 'Songs of Smokie' and 'Bon Adams' who don't really need any explanation.

Both bands were really good and that turned out to be a good night out although we both decided not to get up for a dance (Due to some aches and pains!)

So it was back to the van for a well deserved rest and we hit the sack looking forward to tomorrow.

5th Sept

Sue noticed an identical van as ours was parked just in front of us and she went over to chat, Andy joined them and we discovered that the lady who owned it and her two friends were in a band together so Andy got his acoustic out and they all jammed for a while until, whilst they were playing 'Here comes the sun' it started to rain and they all raced off to save their guitars from getting wet!

Tonights entertainment was 'Police' and 'Mercury'

'Stings' voice was spot on and 'Freddie' was really entertaining and came down off stage and ran around the audience with his wireless microphone! Both bands were very good and they played the classic tunes that we all knew.

After a great evenings entertainment and a few beers we left the venue saying goodnight to our favourite security man on the door, Jason, who wierdly seems to remember us every year!?

Back at the van and Watts occuring and friends were still partying outside their van and there was music and laughter all around the camp.

6th Sept

The morning was sunny but very windy and we worried about the canopy.

We had a wander around the stalls and stumbled across another couple of friends, Chris and Carol who had their stand set up selling security locks for van windows, 'Lock-M-out'.

Then we got to the front of the queue for the 'Tread the globe' questions and answers session. That was amazing to hear about their seven year journey around the world in their Fiat Ducato! Check out tread the globe here.

We got back to the van and joined in with the Watts occuring Karaoke party. Dave Watt had found out the Andy sings in a band and introduced him on the mic so he had to go up and song Sweet Caroline by Niel Diamond.

Later we both got up and sung Love shack by B-52's and Andy helped Dave Watt out with Chasing cars by Snow patrol.

Soon it was time for the evening entertainment, Live Who and Katrina from Katrina and the waves.

Live Who were disappointing and 'Roger Daltry' didn;t move one step from the mic stand and 'Pete Townsend' was also very statuesque! The music was OK.

Katrina was absolutely fantastic and had such a great voice!
